My Sleep Philosophy

The Sleep Sense™ Method was created out of a strong belief that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn, which aligns with my own experience and beliefs.

Sleep is an absolute necessity, even comparable to healthy nutrition. Uninterrupted sleep is crucial for development and memory consolidation. Recent studies have shown that fragmented night sleep may result in poor health outcomes and lower performance in children.

In addition, a number of studies highlight a strong relationship between chronic sleep deprivation in mothers and postpartum depression, commonly known as the “baby blues”. Improvement was reported in the moods and emotions of new mothers after their babies were sleeping through the night.

The Sleep Sense™ program was developed in the early 2000s by Dana Obleman, and has helped tens of thousands of moms and dads with their children’s sleeping issues.

What is my approach?

My method is simple and revolves around four key elements:
  • Sleep education: I will tell you WHY sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. (This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.)
  • A step-by-step plan: I will create an easy-to-follow plan that lets you make choices about what is the right approach for your child (All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do).
  • Establishing expectations: I will show you how to measure success, which is extremely important (No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night- although it does happen!). I will tell you what you should expect along the way, managing your expectations will maintain your patience and help you focus on the progress happening.
  • Work as a team: I will not leave you. You will have my full support through a minimum of two weeks of follow-up, included in every package I offer, as well as several options for a longer-term follow-up plans, if necessary.

My promise to you:

Coming from my strong belief that every baby is unique and every family has its individual parenting style; I’ve placed so much emphasis on accommodating different parenting styles within my programs. I will make sure you feel comfortable with the plan and that you are confident that you can do it.

When you entrust me as your child’s “sleep coach,” I want to let you know that I take this responsibility very seriously. I have trained under one of the most esteemed experts in the field and I am so proud to be a certified Sleep Sense™ consultant. I am also very dedicated to my passion of helping families achieve the same amazing, life-changing results that I had through this program.

What about the tears?

One of the most common questions in the sleep consulting world is the matter of “crying”, something that deserves to be addressed here. Crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. Nevertheless, the reason that the Sleep Sense™ Method is so effective is that it lets you develop a plan that you feel comfortable with. I would never ask you to ignore your child’s cries or to adopt a careless attitude toward your baby’s emotions.

Together, we can work out a plan that works best for you and your child-one that is also aligned with your own experiences and beliefs. I strive for this to be as good an experience for you as it was for me.
